Herb Farms and Nurseries in the UK

Specialist Herb Nurseries need our support. B & Q "Garden Centre" may well sell herbs but only what the big wholesaler decides to propagate. You real Garden Centre may be better, many do some propagation or at least buy in plugs, or plants from a wider source. But if you can get to a Herb Farm then you are going to enthusiasts  who need you money to maintain and increase their widen range of plants available. Below are specialist herb retailers in the UK look up the website or ring your nearest to find out more and take a visit. Not all are Listed in the RHS Plant Finder (RHS) but where they are I have given the code so you can look them up in the Book or look online. There appear to be a number of herb nurseries left out of this year's RHS Plant Finder book and online  possibly they did not get it's reply back to the RHS before a deadline, possibly because of uncertainty due to the weather last early winter!

 

Mints
Herb Farms and Nurseries vary considerably and the size or range of stock they have will be different in every case. Some will have many mints for sale and others not, depending on the interests of the owner. The number of mints they may have available, can also be misleading to the collector, the 8 plants one nursery might sell could all be very rare, whereas the 30 plants another nursery might sell could all be far more common. The information listed has been collected from several sources and is provided as a guide - it may not be completely up-to-date, although in most cases it relates to the current season. Do check with the Herb Farm, even if you have looked at their website, for current opening times, and mint plants availability at the time of your visit, before setting out! Some of them aren't open to callers anyway. Always confirm by 'phone, email or letter what plants are available by mail order before putting in your order. Some don't do mail-order at all. Nurseries that particularly specialise in mints are much fewer in number and may be a long way to go for your first few purchases. And they may sell out of the rarer mints, only propagating small numbers of some or all their catalogue. So try your nearest source first.
